Puppy FAQ's

Here are some FAQ’s we get from our families who are about to take home their furever sweetheart!

What Comes in Their Take Home Bag:

  1. Puppy Training Treats. We have these specially packaged from a local meat locker.

  2. Puppy Pal comfort toy

  3. A roll of poop bags.

  4. Puppy bandana

  5. Health records. They will have the dates of the Dewormer and their 7 week vaccine. Please line up a time for your pup to meet their new vet.

FAQ’s:

Food: We feed them Taste of the Wild. They will eat about 1/3 cup three times a day.

You can get this at IFA, Tractor Supply Store, Chewy.com, and even Amazon🙌🏽 A great alternative is Costcos Kirkland brand for small breeds (pink bag) it is made by the same manufacturer.

Feeding Tip 1: Don’t let your puppy graze throughput the day. For each meal, give them their food and water and after 15 minutes take it away. This teaches them to be on a schedule and will help eliminate accidents.

Feeding Tip 2: Since doodles have hair and not fur it is important to give them a supplement to keep their hair nice & healthy. We recommend giving them an egg with their food every other day (you can scramble or fry it) or you can add a biotin supplement to their food. We give our dogs this.

  • Take puppy out to potty about 10-20 minutes after eating/drinking or after any rough play.

  • Take water and food away 2 hours before bedtime. Take them potty right before bed/crate time and play with them so they’re tired before bed. Cover the kennel with a kennel cover or light blanket while have one side open for air flow.

Puppy Toys: We stick to a one toy rule. If your puppy is teething or chewing on things they shouldn’t, you can tell them no and hand them their designated toy. Multiple toys can confuse a puppy into thinking multiple things in your home are toys. This rubber toy promotes positive chewing behavior by satisfying your puppy's natural instinct to chew


Snacks: Besides our Puppy Training Treats, we recommend using apples, celery, and carrots as snacks.

  1. It’s healthy and helps with cleaning their teeth and freshens their breath.

  2. It’s more cost effective than dog treats from the store.


Kennel: If you plan on kennel training we like using wire, collapsible kennels. You can get this off Amazon but you can look at your local Ross and TJ Maxx for a better price.

Cleaning Supplies:

Puppies are puppies and accidents will happen during potty training.

Keep some simple supplies on hand for when that happens. We like Angry Orange and Resolve.
